We hired Fine-Line Painting Company to stain and paint our deck and stain the steps to the side door. The deck was in pretty bad shape. There were loose nails and boards and the previous stain on the railing to the deck was flaking off. Dave Poszywak was very professional from the beginning phone call through the end of the job. He returned my husband’s phone call quickly, assessed the job and provided us with a written assessment through the mail as promised. We had talked with two other potential companies, but Dave’s prices were reasonable and his efficient and professional manner won us over. We definitely made the right choice and the results were fantastic!
Dave arrived right on time on the agreed upon day. He gave us color choices and when asked, provided his expert opinion on the effect of each choice, giving us a heads up on what we could expect to see in the finished product. As we made the final decision to use an outdoor house paint on the railing that was identical to the trim on the house, I mentioned wanting to use any leftover paint to touch up the side door, which had a few nicks in the paint.
To my surprise and delight, when I came home from work to review the progress made on the deck, I noticed that the nicks in the paint on the side door were gone! Dave had gone to the trouble of touching those up for me, without being asked, without adding more to the contract. He just did it.
Later my husband also let me know that when Dave went to buy the stain, he was not satisfied with the original stain the store provided and asked them to remix it. He did not leave with the correct stain until the store manager had applied it to a piece of wood and dried it. This took an additional hour out of Dave’s time that day. Again, he did not add additional costs to the contract for the extra time he spent getting the stain to be exactly right.
As the job neared the end, Dave recommended a second coat of paint to the deck railings. His original estimate did not include this second coat, so he offered to do it for free, just so he could keep his word on the price of the job. Amazing! We insisted on coming to a fair price for the extra work and added that into the contract.
The deck and the stairs look fabulous! Just as important, it was a delight to work with such an outstanding professional and a person of such integrity and generosity. We will hire him again and recommend him to anyone.
